Union Professionals: An Introduction to Trade Union History ( two-day course)
Trades unions are unique organisations and many of the features that set us apart stem from the story of how unions first emerged and evolved, often in the face of hostility from powerful adversaries.
Designed for trade union staff who may not have much previous knowledge or experience of the history of the movement the course will provide a solid starting point to understand many of the reasons why unions conduct their work in the way they do.
Who is the course for?
The course is for union professionals who may not have a lot of experience and wish to start to learn more about the history of the movement.

The course will help you understand the origins of the British trades unions and the events that have shaped their development and structures.
The course will look at:
- the origins for the Trade union movement in Britain
- the major events that have shaped the movement
- a look at the different models of trade unionism
- understanding the structure of trades unions.
